Teen Foresters offers a next step for our older campers' journey into adolescence and teen discovery. At this age, participants move beyond simply exploring nature and start building a deeper, lasting relationship with the forest itself.
Inspired by our ancestors who knew and cared for their lands, this program invites participants to become both students and stewards of the forest - to take a deeper dive into their knowledge and understanding of the woods. Under Grant and Meg's combined 40+ years of outdoor education, teens will learn how the forest works, develop a sense of responsibility for the land, and gain the confidence to share what they know with others.
Participants are encouraged to pursue their forest passion; they might take on a forest service project to assist TLC replace trail markers, or remove invasive plants. They might help us build new forest structures at our base camps or scout out new creek spots that younger campers will use. They might expand their knowledge of local plants and animals, learn to read mink tracks,or how to catch a northen water snake without getting bit.Teen Foresters is a program for 11-14 years olds who love the forest, love adventure, and love to learn.
Drop off 8:45-9:00am Pick up 5:00-5:15pm
PLEASE NOTE: We will adventure rain or shine. Please plan to drop off your preteens/teens with appropriate gear for the weather (rain gear for rainy days; hats, gloves, and warm coats for cold days, creek gear for hot days). We will only cancel if there is severe weather (i.e., tornadoes, blizzards) in the forecast.
